The Total Wedding Show - The Little Blue Box!

In January, I was lucky to be part of The Total Wedding Show in Toronto.  It was my very first Wedding Show and I had so much fun. Although it was one of the coldest weekends of the year, the weather didn't stop brides (and a few grooms) from coming out to Toronto's International Centre to see what Toronto Wedding Vendors had to offer!
Designing the booth was so fun and took me a few weeks to pull everything together. The Tiffany Blue Box was my inspiration for this table and I was lucky to work with FAB designer, Katie from Green Apple Paperie who created the "tiffany blue" inspired custom signage.

Here are a few pics of the design/set up process!

Until next time!

Sarah's Valentine's Day Birthday Table

I had the opportunity to create a Valentine's Day Themed Table for a friend's daughter who was turning 7.  Designing this table was so much fun!  Green Apple Paperie created the custom printables for the party and I think that they worked very nicely with the theme.  Here are a few pics from the Party! Hope you had a great birthday Miss Sarah!

Up next...a Princess Birthday Party for a sweet little girl turning 1!

Part 1: My FAB Photographer!

It was February 2009, John and I were just engaged and had decided on our date. July 31, 2010. It seemed so far away at that time... but then again, 14 months of planning sounded fine with me!  Having more time to look over WedLuxe magazines and Style Me Pretty posting was more than okay. We had made the list of the 4 "Big Things" that we needed to book in our initial months of planning: Venue, Church, DJ and...Photographer.  We knew what we are looking for in a photographer. Someone who could capture the energy, intensity, feelings and emotion in the photos that would eventually tell the story of what would be THE most important day of our lives together. Pretty daunting task if you ask me!   The best part is....WE FOUND HER!  She is Julie A. Whitlock, a Fredericton based photographer, who's work is beautiful, inspiring and classically contemporary.  Julie "got us" immediately. She understood what we wanted and created that beautiful story book of our wedding day in her photos.  What I didn't know when we booked "our photographer" was that I would find a friend. Julie is not just a "wedding vendor" for me, she is  my FB BFF!

Fredericton area brides, if you are looking for a photographer, we highly recommend Julie. Check out her site http://www.julieawhitlock.com/ and....book her! She's just AWESOME!

Fall Resolution...

I'm a big fan of New Year's Resolutions, but committing to resolutions just once a year is not enough for me. This year, I've decided that I will have a few "Fall Resolutions", one of them being to Blog more.  Blogging is something that is very new to me...writing has never been my "forte". So what better way to become better at something? Practice. So here goes...

As some of you may know, 2010 has been a very special year for me. On July 31, 2010, I married my wonderful husband! This day was not only special because I was marrying the man that I admire, respect and love, but also, being able to plan my own wedding was a dream come true.  I understand that it's not all about the wedding...it's about two lives coming together......I am all about that too, but I admit there was a part of me was totally all about the wedding!

Throughout our 14 month engagement, I had the opportunity to work with many incredible wedding vendors and I want to profile each vendor who helped me and my husband have a day that was beyond perfect. Please follow along on my 10 Part Wedding Blog showcasing some of the different Toronto or Fredericton based vendor that I had the opportunity to work with.

Watch for my first post next week...featuring my FAB Photographer Julie Whitlock

Until then, here is a pic of me and my husband leaving the church after signing our lives away!  Ha. Just kidding!

Sweetly,
Marijke

A Purple and White Wedding for Jasmine and John

Labour Day weekend, I had the opportunity to design a candy table for the wedding of a super cute couple, Jasmine and John. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Barrie Golf and Country Club and although it was a little rainy on Sunday, the ceremony and reception rooms looked exquisite and I'm sure that Jasmine and John had a wonderful day.

Here are a few photos of the purple and white candy table that I created for Jasmine, John and their 60 guests. Enjoy!

I LOVE candy...but I also love a few other things...can anyone say Louboutin?

I realize that I run a candy buffet business, and technically I was hoping to write each and every blog post about my love of candy (which I do LOVE), however, I’ve decided to switch it up a bit and occasionally throw in some other LOVES of mine.

I’m starting today!

Two words. Christian Louboutin. I LOVE his shoes.
Now…my fiancée and I just bought a house, we are in the midst of planning a wedding and we don’t have big fancy day jobs…so I’m not really in the best position to be buying tons and tons of $600+ pairs of shoes. Especially when there are other really fun things to spend our money on, such as...a new vacuum cleaner or property taxes or a new dishwasher. Needless to say, wearing a pair of these beautifully crafted, Ohh Soo elegant shoes on my wedding day was nothing but a pipe dream. Well peeps…that pipe dream came true on December 31, 2009. My lovely little sister (and trusted MOH) surprised me with my very own pair of white satin, peep toe, beautiful red soled Louboutins! (Love you Jacs!) The best wedding gift ever…sorry fiancée…not your size! LOL Now everytime I watch Oprah...and I see her wearing a pair of CLs, I say to my fiancee, "Oprah and I wear the same shoes...imagine that!".

So, I wanted to share a few Louboutins that I love…as well as pics of my very own! Maybe someday I will own another pair, but for right now, knowing that I have a pair in my closet is good enough for me!

Enjoy,

Marijke

Make your Candy Buffets "Pop" with Colour!

Spring is definitely in the air!

The sun is shining, buds are starting to blossom, and fashion is changing from dark greys and blacks to lots of bright oranges, yellows and teals! Spring is one of my favourite seasons for this very reason, I love colour! It’s fun, rejuvenating and exciting...much like how candy makes us feel! Colour is one of the most important aspects to consider when designing your candy buffet. Whether you are opting for an all white elegant buffet, a fun multi-colour retro candy buffet, or a themed buffet full of greens, yellows or pinks, coordinating the colours is important in creating dimension within the table and ultimately pulling together the entire look of the table. It’s fun to creatively add your own stlye into the buffet with colour as well experiment with adding different accent colours, even colours that you may not think would compliment each other.

Here are some of my favourite buffets from some of the best designers in the business.

See how they use colour to create an impact and ultimately make the entire table sparkle like Spring!

Sweetly Signing Off,
